Matt Young is a Brisbane – based freelance actor, acting coach and speaker coach. Recently Matt has played the following roles in theatre: Bruno in Smiley, a gay rom-com from Spain at BackDock Arts for Brisbane Pride, 2020, Max Bialystock in The Producers for Altitude Theatre at The Brisbane Powerhouse, Seutonius Paulinus for Theatreroo, and Sarge/Scarlett in Yank!, a WWII Love Story for the Melt Festival in 2019. Additionally, he is known for his screen performances including playing James Cook in ABC’s Captain Cook: Obsession and Discovery, Graham’s Dad in Gayby Baby on Stan, HBO Max’s Wrecked and Hallmark movies A Summer To Remember and Pearl in Paradise.
As an acting coach, he teaches at The Factory Acting Studio, Australian Actors’ Studio and Tukuna Acting Club, which he founded in Fiji in 2015. Through Tukuna, he has served as Fiji casting director for Netflix’s #blackAF, extras casting director for Hallmark’s Pearl in Paradise and children’s casting director for South Pacific Food Revolution. He served as the screen acting coach for Film Fiji from 2015-2019. He was also the show producer for Fiji Fashion Week 2019. As a speaker coach, he has worked for Miss World, Australian Pacific Training Coalition, KPMG, The Prime Minister’s International Business Awards Fiji and TEDxSuva (Fiji).
Matt is available as a freelance actor for film, tv and stage, as an emcee for conferences and events, or speaker coach for individuals and small groups.
